This popped up on a local Craigslist. The chassis looks like it might be an early beetle(kingpin front end), but I have no clue on the motor. Any guesses?

The engine is Corvair.

I’m not arguing because I don’t know shit about VWs or Porsches but doesn’t it look like there are three plug wires per side?

Most flat fours don’t have six spark plugs.

Engine looks an awful lot like a Corvair. Apparently that was a swap people did back in the day. With the fan/shroud like it is it seems almost certainly a Corvair.

Looks like a flat 6 at least, my guess is some old Porsche.

I’d say Corvair. Not sure why the VW trans is there though.

Except it’s a flat-six. My money’s on this being Corvair stuff.

That’s a Corvair engine on a hacked up VW pan.

That’s what I was thinking, Porsche boxer six. As to the car, I haven’t a clue.

If it’s a 911, you’ll soon see it listed for $10,000 as “numbers matching all original, needs some body[work] and electrical. Lowest cost-of-entry for any 911 on the market today!”

DID ANYBODY SAY CORVAIR YET?

oh.

Maybe somebody was going to build a high powered buggy? People used to use Corvair motors in them.

I want to say Corvair. This one has some custom parts but the fan shroud and the remains of the belt pulleys match.

Chevrolet Corvair. The flat fan gives it away

That fan design on top makes me think Corvair...?
